A strikingly individual stone mansion overlooking Prestbury Golf Course has won the title of ‘Best One Off Property’ in the country at the finals of the LABC National Built in Quality Awards*.
Luxury property developers Hillcrest Homes commissioned the project and set a specific vision and brief for building contractors MH Stainton and architects Calderpeel.
Earlier this year, the property earned the successful collaboration a fourth consecutive ‘Built in Quality Award’ and second consecutive ‘Best in Cheshire’ title, as well as ‘Best Home Over £1M’ in the Northern Property Awards and ‘Best Luxury Development’ in the Northern Design Awards.
The LABC Built in Quality Awards commend a ‘best in class’ commitment to delivering a superior quality of design and construction in all types of build. Regional winners are invited to enter the finals with an overall winner chosen for each category.
The winning property featured original architecture influenced by both the famed American designer Frank Lloyd Wright and Prestbury’s most prestigious and attractive historic mansions.
As well as six large en-suite bedrooms and ample reception areas, the property featured a beautiful oak framed pool house with heated swimming pool.
Specification was of a very high standard with a bespoke kitchen scheme crafted by German manufacturers SieMatic and six individually styled bathrooms from Swiss masters Laufen, including a mezzanine bathroom to the master suite which offered views over the Golf Course from the bathtub.
The property also presented Hillcrest with the opportunity to fulfil a desire to deliver renewable energy solutions. A like-minded purchaser expressed an interest in these features and Hillcrest obliged by installing air source heating for the pool and home and a rainwater harvesting system.
Says Hillcrest Homes MD, Mike Kennedy; “This award is the icing on the cake. We knew when we first developed the concept for Graythwaite that we were embarking on something extraordinary. The site, the views and the prestigious location all demanded an original and momentous architectural statement and we didn’t shirk from that responsibility.
“After years of working together, Calderpeel understood our vision and responded with a design that was individual, but not in immediate contrast to local architecture. And, as always, MH Stainton delivered a quality of build and finish that matched our own meticulous standards.”
The award-winning Hillcrest/Calder Peel/Stainton collaboration has turned its attention to Wrenwood on Broadway in Hale - a modern detached home providing five en-suite bathrooms, an indoor swimming pool, sauna, home gymnasium and state of the art technology system.
