Hillcrest has sponsored the inaugural Pink Ribbon Ribble Valley Ladies Lunch and helped raise nearly £10,000 for leading breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Now.
The fabulous event was held at Artisan Restaurant & Bar in Billington and welcomed 120 ladies to an afternoon of fine dining, fundraising and fun. It was organised by local ladies Michelle Payne and Jane Kelly, who have both had friends or family touched by breast cancer.
From specially created ‘Tickled Pink’ cocktails to fabulous luxury goody bags worth over £100, the sell-out event was supported by a host of local businesses.
Michelle Payne commented, “We are absolutely thrilled with the lunch and are so overwhelmed by the generosity of the local people and businesses who so passionately supported it. We could not have created such a successful afternoon without all of these contributions and would like to thank everyone who attended.”
Hillcrest Homes presented a £2,000 cheque to organisers to begin the fundraising initiative. Fellow sponsors Sarah Layton fine jewellery, donated a bespoke piece of jewellery for auction, and Precious at Whalley entertained guests with a stunning spring/summer fashion show.
Simone Milner, Sales Manager at Hillcrest commented, “We are proud to have been involved with such a fantastic event and to have contributed to such a great cause. As we embark upon creating our new community at The Warren, in Hurst Green, it is important for us to work not only with the local architecture and environment, but with local businesses and people as well.”
Alongside the donation, Hillcrest Homes also presented every guest with bottles of pink fizz, fashionable tote bags and smart branded umbrellas featuring a gorgeous Ribble Valley summer’s day skyline on the inside.
Local bakery business, Loulou’s Meringues & More, supplied fabulous pink favours for the event and, following a delicious lunch by Artisan, heartfelt speeches were delivered by the charity explaining what the money raised would go towards funding. There was a raffle, auction and prize draw with all proceeds going to Breast Cancer Now. The afternoon concluded with a thrilling performance from Dax on Sax.
Daisy Axtell-Powell, of Breast Cancer Now commented, “We would like to thank Michelle, Jane, Hillcrest Homes and everyone involved in the Pink Ribbon Ladies Lunch for their dedicated support. The glamorous event was organised to perfection and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into maximising fundraising on the day.
“Research holds the key to stopping women dying of breast cancer and, whilst incredible progress has been made, there is so much more still to do. It is thanks to inspiring and brilliant fundraisers like Michelle and Jane and generous businesses like Hillcrest Homes, that Breast Cancer Now can continue to invest in vital breast cancer research to help us reach our aim that, by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer will live, and live well.”
