Chantreys, Alderley Edge

Chantreys is a bold and exciting take on the humble ‘bungalow’, which sees conventional architecture radically revolutionised for the style conscious buyers prevalent in the village of Alderley Edge in Cheshire.

The development was a refurbishment of an existing single level property; extended and remodelled to provide versatile living accommodation and a leisure suite with swimming pool and sauna.

Inspired by international boutique hotels, a first floor ‘owners retreat’ provided 1,000 sq ft of private accommodation including a master bedroom, luxurious bathroom, dressing room and lounge.

Bearing a greater resemblance to its Australian and American cousins than the traditional British counterpart, Chantreys offers flexible accommodation that allows its occupants to fix the function of each living space according to their individual requirements.

Each space is flexible enough to accommodate any demands made of it, so whilst just four rooms have been earmarked as bedrooms, the owners could easily add a fifth by converting the study. By the same token, these spaces could also be used to provide a home office, library, games room, children’s playroom; whatever meets the owner’s requirements.


All bathrooms were styled by Villeroy & Boch. A showcase kitchen from Poggenpohl balanced form with function and featured a comprehensive range of professional appliances.

The property resides within a walled garden populated with mature trees and shrubs giving privacy and seclusion whilst still being only a short walk from this prestigious village.
