Sleepy Hollow, Prestbury
Sleepy Hollow is a brand new take on the modern mansion.
It was shortlisted for the ‘Best Innovative Design’ and ‘Best Luxury Property’ in the prestigious Northern Design Awards, a finalist in the NW LABC Building Excellence Awards for ‘Best Individual Dwelling and picked by The Sunday Times as ‘Best Designed’ in it’s Top 50 Homes in the UK 2013.

Praised by local residents as ‘exciting and innovative’, Sleepy Hollow was designed by local architects ‘The Cave’ to be innately eco friendly and surpassed the regulatory standards governing the eco credentials of new build homes.
The design fuses sustainable natural materials with modern engineering and was integrated into the site so as to work with the natural topography, limiting heat loss whilst complementing it’s private woodland setting.
Flat roofs and deep overhanging eaves were coupled with expanses of white render, stone and extensive glazing – each element was chosen for it’s contribution to sustainability as well as it’s aesthetic appeal.
The property is south facing using the solar path to part heat and light the home. Dense building materials, such as stone, were specified to slow down heat loss and reduce the reliance on mechanical heating – as well as for their natural beauty!
Proven renewable energy technologies were also utilised to help with the property’s eco efficiency, such as air source heat pumps, photovoltaics, rainwater harvesting and an intelligent wiring system which shuts down inactive technology and adapts the electric lighting voltage to match the deficit of natural daylight.
